What is International Aviation Day? It is a day in which we celebrate the impact that civil aviation has had on a global schedule. The day that we recognize for this is December 21st every year. Every four years a new theme is given. Currently the theme is “75 Years of Connecting the World.” The importance for this theme stems from UN Agenda 2030, where there is a pledge to reduce pollution to ensure a global era of sustainable development.
One of the more intriguing aspects of this day comes from knowing that we are all civilians that drive the aviation business. From building parts and planes, to being the pilot of a plane, we all play a role and make this day worthwhile. When there is job creation within the aviation industry, it creates countless jobs in other industries as well.
Just one of the countless inventions in aviation is an Airbus in development that has hopes of reducing flight time by 13 minutes per flight, while cutting down on fuel and CO2 emissions by 2050. If this invention is any indication, the future in aviation still has a lot of promise and upside to come!
