All it takes is a dream, willpower, and a drive to make the impossible possible. Most often, the greatest inventions started out as dreams about something with no technology to build upon. As time passes, technology grows and changes to the point that dreams can become a reality.
Sure, there were balloons that floated in the air. We saw birds fly every day. Benjamin Franklin famously flew a kite that was struck by lightning, incidentally discovering electricity as a power source. But could we fly one day, or would we forever be stuck on the ground just watching?
To the average person living in the early- to mid-1800s, flying was not something we would ever accomplish. The Wright Brothers changed this when they took flight in their famous airplanes of the early 20th century. Space has also been something that we have looked at and seen as far away. Not even five full decades had passed after those early flights before a rocket flew into space. Not long after that, another dream of man became reality when Neil Armstrong took his first steps on the moon and uttered, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”
Dreamers have led us into changes that we never saw coming. Today, Elon Musk has a dream of one day living on Mars. There are even people that are buying up real estate on Mars and pre-purchasing flights to Mars to live there themselves.
Today is March 11, and it’s a great day to have a dream. What is yours?
